Oscar Arslanian writes, "The initial response to our mailing for the Dartmouth Goes Hollywood reunion, which is set for May 6-9, has been fantastic. We have a winner! It's been a pleasure and privilege to receive the responses from our classmates. Here are a few: '"That's pretty far in advance to plan for folks who live one day at a time, but we're definitely in.'—Bob and Ellis Naegle (Minneapolis)
'"Advance notice six months in advance. I'm impressed.'—Mike Murphy (Windermere, Fla.) '"Looking forward to seeing the West Coast gang and other '61s. What a committee. Kudos, etc.'—Bill Glenn (Aurora, Ill.) '"Will I be discovered?'-John Edwards"
Oscar didn't indicate whether the quote was from physician John Edwards (Madison, Wisc.) or dentist John Edwards (Charlotte, N.C.), and both are on his list.
In fact, the list indicates this will be a national reunion of the class of 1961, not just a West Coast reunion. It includes, besides those above, classmates from Rhode Island, Mississippi, Nevada, Michigan, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indiana, Missouri, and Georgia. A number of states have two or three people. At this point, the national list outnumbers the California-Oregon -Washington-Hawaii contingent.
Oscar continues, "Many thanks to JohnHadley for creative support and Steve Elson and his firm Fotouhi Alonso for creating our logo and letterhead. Several classmates are planning surprises for all in attendance.... Contact friends, associates, roommates, fraternity brothers, etc. who haven't responded and tell them they can't miss what portends to be a sensational reunion." Got questions? Elliott Weiss writes: "I have decided to leave Cardozo Law School in New York to become the first Charles E. Ares professor of the University of Arizona College of Law in Tucson. While the appointment was effective with the start of this academic year, I delayed moving until the second semester, largely as the result of a complex discussion with my wife, Wendy." Wendy has a successful psychotherapy practice in New Jersey and is waiting until summer to move to Tucson. Elliott is living in temporary quarters this spring until Wendy arrives.
"I'm very excited about the move and would love to hear from any classmates who live in the area or who happen to be passing through."
News notes: Bill Hengst exhibited photos of landscapes and city skylines in the Chestnut Hill, Penn., art show. "I always enjoyed the outdoor art show as a spectator," he told the Chestnut Hill Local. "I decided this year to display my own creativity." He is "especially interested in the effects of sunlight on the landscape and sunlight itself, particularly during the last minutes before sunset."
