The association of Clinical Scientists named Salafia "Young Clinical Scientist of the Year" in 1990. She has lectured at the International Academy of Pathology in Madrid and at other international conferences, and has authored and co-authored numerous books and articles. She will soon be heading a new research laboratory for perinatal pathology at the National Institutes of Health. Her goal: to "use laboratory research for comprehensive improvement in maternal, fetal, and newborn well-being."
