Reicher is an international environmental figure. Among many victories, he forced the Department of Energy to comply with environmental and safety laws at its nuclear facilities. For a few years he has also been assisting the Russians with their environmental problems; he even led a team of U.S. experts helping the Supreme Soviet draft laws on nuclear-waste disposal. Recently appointed to the Clinton-Gore energy transition team, he also teaches law at the University of Maryland Law School.
