I had intended for this to be a column about the Dartmouth class of 1977, but as I made my calls this weekend it could just as easily have served for Hanover High, class of 1973. Their influence in our class never struck me until now. I caught up with Lisa Copenhaver (HH '73) on a tip from Peggy McCloskey. It seems Lisa was married in the fall to Peggy's boss, the attorney general for the state of Maine. Peggy set Lisa and Tom up, married them (which is permissible in Maine, according to the attorney general), and had her husband, Brian, stand in to witness the blessed event. Sounds like a very Dartmouth happening. Now Lisa and Tom are renovating a farmhouse outside Augusta while they are working at the state capitol, and they sometimes see the McCloskeys when their commuting permits (see winter Class Notes).

Another HH graduate, Jay MacNamee, was home on a quiet Monday when I called. Last summer Jay had a play staged at the American Stage festival in Milford, N.H. The story of a father-son relationship was ten years in the writing and only after a fluky series of circumstances did it get produced. The play, entitled The Break, was well reviewed locally and received national recognition in Variety magazine. When not pursuing his avocation, Jay, who lives in Jaffrey, N.H., with his wife, Susan, and two children, writes marketing pieces for retailers like Brookstone and Eastern Mountain Sports.

Jay mentioned he saw Rob Kemeny during the winter at Rob's father's funeral in Hanover. I think most of us are aware of John Kemeny's death. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by the College. Jay said Rob seemed very well and is living in Southern California with his wife and child. He is working for a marketing, company he started after a successful stint at Federated Department Stores. Coincidentally, Jay's second child and John's first were born on the same day. In case you were wondering, Rob also went to Hanover High.

Chris Wilson (HH '73) is another marketeer from the class. Chris spent some time dancing with Pilobolus at Dartmouth before dancing ballet professionally in New York. He joined the Minnesota Dance Theater and was with it until it folded five years ago. His marketing career began then, and he has flourished since as a television copywriter. In the last year while working for Martin/Williams in Minneapolis, Chris has written ten spots for TV, including one for the American Humane Society which features barking sperm. What are they barking at?

Gursharn Rakhra has established a medical practice in Albany, N.Y., after getting his M.D. degree in Canada. I don't know what his specialty is—given his knee problems from playing with the Hanover High soccer team, our freshman team, and his ongoing participation in field hockey, I hope Sharni chose orthopaedics so he could at least get some advice to bring home.

One last note from Hanover High. Jay also mentioned that Peter White is "a mucketymuck with some big Boston Bank." While I couldn't reach him for comment by presstime, our records confirm the aforementioned position with FNB Boston. Here's hoping you Hanover High folks have a wonderful 20th high-school reunion.

The final news item this month is that SusanDentzer is on the ballot for an Alumni Trustee position for the College. Susan is senior writer and chief economic correspondent for U.S. News and World Report. She has been an active and influential member of a number of alumni organizations and would be a great representative of our class on the Board of Trustees. Have a great spring!
