IN FIELDS RANGING from archaeology' to astrophysics, eight recent Dartmouth graduates have won prestigious (and highly competitive) National Science Foundation fellowships: Brett Allison '93, Susan Chimonas '93, Deborah Erdman '90, David Kaiser '93, William Sandholm '92, Lisa Shin '90, Henry Spindler '92, and Kenneth Whitney '89. Each receives a $14,000 annual stipend for three years. All have elected to study elsewhere. In turn, two students, Julia Keith and Alice Shumate—who earned their NSF fellowships at other schools—are bringing their grants to Dartmouth, for graduate study in cellular biology and ecology, respectively.
