Here are a few additions to the list of' 37 grandchildren attending Dartmouth: Merideth Timbers '94, granddaughter of Bill Timbers; August Detlefsen '94, grandson of jack Detlefsen; and Marisa Bassett '97, granddaughter of Chuck Bassett.

The Dartmouth Admissions Office reports that 1,123 applied for early decision to the class of '98. Three hundred and forty were admitted, including 49 legacies. I interviewed one of the legacies who was admitted, Lindsay Page, daughter of Clem Page '67. Many of us have interviewed hundreds of applicants, and it is always rewarding to see some of the students admitted to Dartmouth.

Fred and Esther Mayo's Christmas greeting tells us they took cruises to the Pacific and the Mediterranean and hope to get back to New England. We will look for you, Fred, at the mini on September 23 and 24.

A phone conversation brought news that Don and Helen McKinlay would be cruising through the Panama Canal on the Seabourne Line's Pride, with the Justin Stanleys '33. Don has been doing pro bono work for the Denver Legal Aid office and enjoys helping young lawyers prepare their briefs. He and Helen hope to return to Hanover for the next mini. Helen has a 15 handicap, making her a favorite for the '37 golf tournament which we will reactivate this September. Don was a trustee of the Aspen Institute and says Dave McLaughlin '54 is doing a good job as head of that organization.

John and Nancy Milne planned to leave their new home in Norwich for a trip to Florence, Italy, in February.

I spent the first week of January in New Hampshire and had the opportunity to try the new quad-chairlift at the Dartmouth Skiway. It is a great improvement which makes the College's own ski area probably the best school facility in the country. What an opportunity it is for Dartmouth students and faculty.
