We mentioned in last month's column that Bill Niss and "Hilly" Gignoux I were planning to marry on I February 12. We are happy to announce that the wedding took place as scheduled with a quiet family ceremony in Cumberland. After a weekend at the Inn By The Sea in Cape Elizabeth they were busy consolidating the two households Bill moving his things down the street to Hilly's. A delayed wedding trip to Florida was planned for tie last two weeks in March, with a stop in Orlando and then visits with several classmates in other areas.
Speaking of Florida, after the latest Class of 1936 Directory was distributed, Al Harrington came up with a detailed analysis of where we are all living these days. While many of our group have moved their permanent residences to Florida and other warmer areas, most of us seem concentrated in the Northeast (although after this winter there may be a renewed exodus to sunnier territories). Florida and New York each claim 43 families, while California and New Hampshire are balanced at 33. But then we have Massachusetts 42, Connecticut 32, Pennsylvania 15, New Jersey 14, Maine 13, and Vermont 10, far outnumbering Virginia 12, Maryland, Ohio and Illinois (11 each), and sunny Arizona (ten), at al. Al notes that Dick Brierley deserves the honor of "best home address." He can be found on Easy Street in Carefree, Arizona. It does have a certain appeal to it!
As most of you probably know by now, Paul Guibord has resigned as bequest chairman. Bax Fullerton and Phyllis England, who have taken over his duties, have initiated a project to thank Paul for his 32 years of dedicated service. They suggest that we make a special effort to start—or add to charitable gift annuities or life-income trusts, or any other such gifts to the College by June 30 in tribute to Paul. In a related matter, gifts to the Alumni Fund must be in by June 30 to be credited to this year's Fund, so if you have made a pledge be sure that your gift reaches Hanover by that date. One more note, if you have not paid your class dues, please do so. Your dues cover the cost of the Alumni Magazine, postage, and any class projects.
Last call for Class Officers Weekend and '36 mini-reunion, May 6-7. See you there!
