A former Dartmouth ski team captain, Ned Gillette '67 has circumambulated Mounts McKinley and Everest, competed in the 1968 Winter Olympics and in Norway's famed Holmenkollen ski race, rowed a boat 720 miles to the Antarctic, and ridden parts of China's Silk Road on a camel. Along the way he has garnered corporate sponsorship, achieved a reputation for unparalleled organizational ability, and earned a pretty good if not exactly risk-free living. He is the leader of a new and growing profession of adventurers, flagpole sitters of the nineties, who continue to pursue feats that are yet unaccomplished in this overexplored, overpopulated world,
