The first public demonstration of the remote use of a computer took place at Dartmouth. In September 1940 George Stibitz, known today as the father of the modern digital computer, connected a teletype machine installed in McNutt to his computer at Bell's New York laboratories.
The first e-mail was sent from McNutt.
