Tribute to Tuss
October 1951

A portrait of Dartmouth's beloved former head coach of football, DeOrmond "Tuss" McLaughry, will be presented to the College just before the Dartmouth-Brown football game on October 12. The painting, by Paul Sample '2O, Dartmouth's artist-in-residence nce, will be presented in informal ceremonies in the Trophy Room of Alumni Gymnasium beginning promptly at noon. All alumni are cordially invited to the presentation.

Contributions from players on McLaughry-coached teams of 1941 and 1942 and 1945 through 1954 made possible the gift. Serving as co-chairmen and representing the players are Joe Sullivan '49 and Ray Truncellito '49, both stars under Tuss and later coaching assistants at Dartmouth.

Following its presentation, the McLaughry portrait will hang in the main lobby at the Davis Field House, a fine tribute to a truly great coach and a constant reminder to all Dartmouth players who pass through this room that there is much more to football than winning a game.
