Any one of the patents: of John Woodhouse '21 would have made an inventor's career: hydraulic brake fluid; soft plastic contact lenses; and calcium propinate, which retards spoilage in bread. As a chemist with Du Pont, Woodhouse had a hand in developing laundry detergents, uranium fuel elements, Latex paint, Lucite, and a product of particular importance in die northcountry: automotive anti-freeze.
