Dartmouth has the distinction of founding the first graduate school of business. At the nun of the century, President William Jewett Tucker 1861 was concerned about training businessmen "commensurate with the larger meaning of business." He tapped his friend Amos Tuck 1835, a wealthy financier, and in 1900 the Amos Tuck School of Administration and Finance was born.

In 1988 the Tuck School collaborated with die International University of Japan in that country's first accredited English-language MBA program. The program's nickname: Nippon Tuck.
