Orozco's Masterpiece
Jose Clemente Orozco was already a leader of the Mexican mural movement when he came to Dartmouth in 1932 to demonstrate the art of fresco. He had also long dreamed of painting his "Epic of American Civilization." The bare walls of Baker Library's reserve room offered his chance. Since their completion in 1934 the Orozco Murals have been hailed as the artist's masterpiece.
