I was seriously contemplating the serial publication of my yet-unfinished novel in these very pages, 600 words by 600 words, when a letter from RicBucher arrived on San Jose Mercury News stationary, no less. Ric, who lives in San Francisco, is very busy covering the NBA for that august paper, unearthing sports scandals and hobnobbing with our modern-day heroes. But, he writes, it is surfing, playing the piano, and writing fiction on the side that keep him sane.

The real reason Ric wrote, however, was to boast of the creative endeavors, and successes, of Kevin Connolly. Kevin recently released his second CD, "My, My, My," (congrats, Kev I didn't even know there was a first) and completed a West Coast tour. The CD has already been picked up for distribution in England and is being used by the hot new band Morphine (I've got to get out more) to warm up the crowd on its tour. Kevin is still living in Cambridge with his wife, Liza, and their bulldog Lucille, and those interested in hearing the CD should send a check for $15 made out to him at Big Fish Music, Box 391732, Cambridge, MA 02139.

What Ginny Lower wants to know is, can you cha cha cha to it? Ginny is teaching ballroom dancing in Buffalo, where she lives with her two children, daughter Jamie 6, and son Jay 4. It all started, she said, as a hobby. "I loved it, and was going more and more, until one day the owner of the studio asked me if I wanted to teach." As if that's not enough, Ginny is also looking around for a gourmet shop or catering business to buy.

Ginny reports that Peter Ham got married last December to Lisa Belshaw, who teaches at Spence in New York. The pair honeymooned in Vietnam, and now Peter's infamously lovely bachelor retreat in New Jersey is a connubial cottage, although the newlyweds spend most of the week in Manhattan, where Peter still works at Merril Lynch.

Whitman Smith married Virginia Stolarski (that's Dr. Stolarski to you) last August. The bride is a professor of special education at Teacher's College, Columbia University; Whit's a professor of English and American literature at SUNY-Purchase and College of New Rochelle.

Bob Agler switched jobs about six months ago and is now the in-house lawyer for a finance company in Chicago called the CIT group. Bob is still living in the city with his wife Sonia Chae '84. Yes, wife they finally got married at the Chicago courthouse. All righ, it was two and a half years ago.

Together Bob and I speculated about the whereabouts of Mike Adams. When I last heard from him he was living in San Francisco with his wife, Elizabeth but just barely. He was spending most of his time in Europe trying to get Eurotunnel up (under?) and running. Bob had heard a rumor that Bechtel then sent him out to Singapore to open a Southeast Asia office, but that he's now in Hong Kong. Mike, if you read this, please check in.

Were you aware that Jim Ulcickas's phone number is (714) 760-JIMU? It's true. Why not call him and give him a hard time about it.

And speaking of giving people a hard time pay your dues, you deadbeats! You know who you are. You might have noticed by now that even though you're about six months late, you're still receiving this magazine. You should be ashamed of yourself. Write that check now!
