THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN: Less than a year from now, the class of 1945 will gather to celebrate our 50th! Reunion Chair George Barr is well ahead of schedule in formulating plans. Reunion Treasurer Nick Sandoe is looking for your $100 advance payment (P.O. Box A72, Hanover, NH 03755). The dates are June 11-13, 1995. Mark it on your longterm calendar now.

In early May, your class was represented by a full complement at Class Officers Weekend in Hanover: Pres. Steve Hull, VP VicSmith, Treasurer John Osborn, Secretary Charles Rowan, Head Agent Bob Pease, Newsletter Ed. George Barr, Mini Chair BobAldom, Reunion Gift Chair Bob Fisher, and Bequest Chair John White. The program was good, the weather was fine, and the '45 Weather Post sparkled on the Inn corner. George and Betsy Barr hosted the gang for supper Saturday evening.

From Auburn, Maine, Dick Kendall writes, "I am still married to my high-school sweetheart. Over the past 40 years, we have built up our 100-acre farm into a most attractive home that lures our seven remaining children and 20 grandchildren back to visit. My primary businesses have been successful. My efforts to be a good citizen were recognized in 1986 when I was selected as Auburn's 'Citizen of the Year,' an honor bestowed as a result of many civic endeavors on my part."

In the May Alumni Magazine, an announcement was made of The Dartmouth 21st Century Song Book, to be the result of a competition sponsored by our class. Bob Paulson is the chief honcho of this project, and he asks that music lovers in the class donate some of their long green to provide funds for prizes (IS Kay St., Wes thorough, MA 01581, phone (508) 366-4694).

From Framingham, Mass., Eliot Mover enclosed a news clip reporting that Dr. FredPlum, New York Hospital's chief of neurology, was the spokesman for that institution during Richard Nixon's last stay. Eliot thinks the world of Fred, who is certainly preeminent in his field—he was able to diagnose Eliot's multiple sclerosis after other doctors had missed it for years.

Two former editors of The Dartmouth, Chris Johnson '94 and David Herszenhorn '94 are building an archive of historical information about the newspaper. Any of you out there who would like to contribute info or mementos should contact them at 6175 Robinson Hall, or phone (603) 643-9230.

From Gene Wilkin (via Nick Sandoe) we learned that the old media expert has been in Hungary as an executive volunteer to help their first private radio station, in Tatabanya get on the air. Gene wrote, "After 50 years of Russification, they start from zero. But what talents! I'm having a rich experience." (Can't think of anyone better qualified for the experience.)

The mail bag is low. Please send an itemjuicy or not—this way. Thought for the month: "I believe in equality for everyone, except reporters and photographers. "Mahatma Gandhi
