February 1951. Fifty-four's first Winter Carnival. Headline in Daily D, "Alpdudler Pipes Pagan Skiers For Snow Job On 1,500 Bunnies." (A different world—even the D was politically incorrect, but nobody knew it.) Barbara Ann Scott skated at the Outdoor Carnival Show in a natural amphitheater on the golf course. Remember how cold it was! John Towle spent Carnival in Dick's House but was compensated by a special visit from Miss Scott. During the weekend of February 14,1951,250 frosh dads slept, ate, and made merry during Freshmen Parents Weekend. They were signed in by John Gillespie. Jay Engle was the entertainment chairman, and we were entertained by a Dixie band and Professor Allen Foley.
