For the second year in a row, and the 11th time in 16 years, the women's basketball team took the Ivy tide with 12 victories and two defeats and a 16-10 overall record.
The women's final league game wrested the trophy from a tough Harvard squad. The 72-48 trouncing also won the team an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. Although they lost in the final round, to Virginia, they confounded the pessimists with an extraordinary 71-68 squeaker. Seniors Ilsa Webeck and Betsy Gilmore broke the Green record for blocked shots and assists during the season, while classmate Brandi Jones set the mark for three-pointers.
In other championships, the women's hockey team won the Ivies for the third time in five years.
The women dunked an Ivy titleand nearly caused Virginia amajor NCAA embarrassment.
