Rick Braddock and IBM Chairman Lou Gerstner finally got together professionally after long parallel careers that began after college at Harvard Business School. As a director and consultant for the Lotus Development Corp., Rick was at the side of Lotus Chairman Jim Manzi for much of the negotiations which resulted in IBM acquiring Lotus, according to the Wall Street Journal. Rick was already involved in an assignment to supervise the cutting of costs at Lotus, a skill he honed during his last years as president of Citicorp. Rick is also employed by the leverage-buyout firm, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. At Lotus, Rick "is helping the company in this period of restructuring to try to make this transition work," a board member said.

Three class mini-reunions are planned this fall in Hanover, Cambridge, and New York. In Hanover, Homecoming Weekend, October 20-22, features the parade Friday night, post-game (Colgate) cocktails at the home of Dean and Barbara Edson near the stadium, and a class dinner (site to be announced). In case you can't make it to Hanover, try Tailgating with Dave Schaefer before and after the Harvard game, October 28, in the parking lot of the Harvard Business School, or join classmates at Wein Stadium on November 4 in New York for a tailgate party hosted by Class President Dick Berkowitz at the Columbia game. For farther information contact Mini-Reunion Chairman Bob Bysshe (212) 454-3727.

Speaking of Dave Schaefer, our indefatigable class organizer and newsletter editor has taken on expanded roles at the College. He has been elected VP of the Newsletter Editors Association and, as our representative to the Alumni Council, he is chairman of the class organization committee of that esteemed body.
