Hey all you Hepcats! While Anna and I were enjoying the break from summer Class Notes deadlines, we got a lot of mail. So, without further ado.. .I hate to state the obvious, but it's that time of our lives and almost all my news is about engagements, weddings, and babies, babies, babies. Jake Reynolds got engaged to Robin Bryson '91. They plan to be wed in April of 1998. In the meantime, Jake was graduated from Columbia Business School last May and the couple moved to Palo Alto, where Jake has joined Technology Crossover Ventures as an associate.

Jake shares news that Mike Seifert was married over Labor Day weekend in Napa. Eric and Lucinda (Welch) Butz had their first child last summer. Jim Hemmer and his wife, Lynn, had their first, Grace, last June.

Jonathan Weatherly wrote to announce the birth of his and Lisa's first child, a girl named Madison Erin, last January. He added: "She's cute as a button and a real joy to have around. Only one issue: At this point, she's using her Dartmouth infant sleeper, but she's not sleeping much." Judging from his e-mail address, I'd guess that Jonathan is working on an M.B.A. at Kellogg?

Anthony and Jane (Williams) Vale also had their first baby in July. Jane probably took notes during her delivery since she is finishing her ob-gyn residency in Albany, N.Y. Anthony received a joint law and business degree from Yale and the couple are planning to move to Boston. Chris Farrens is also a new father.

Now, I am going to break my usual habit and quote verbatim from a lovely postcard I received, depicting Napa Valley grapes.

"Just wanted to send an update for the Class Notes now that I have some good news. On May 10, I married my first love, Ron Merriman '88. After many years apart since our rocky relationship at Dartmouth and with many miles between us, a Christmas card and a lot of phone calls brought us back together. Happily, in the time apart we became more alike, learned how to get along, and realized what we had given up when we went our separate ways. We were married in the Napa Valley and celebrated our honeymoon in Bora Bora. We will live in the San Francisco Bay area where Ron works with Andersen Consulting. In attendance were Anton Anderson '89, Shannon (Clark) Pandolfi and SatinMirchandani. I'm still (argh!) working on my Ph.D. thesis in clinical psychology and neuroscience."

Friends, that was it. A most touching and heartwarming note. There was, however, one minor flaw: it wasn't signed! I tried to locate the letter writer (okay, not hard enough), but was unsuccessful. So, whoever you are, please write again so we can share in your good news!

Continuing along, Sandy Morton wrote a long, long time ago (sorry this is so late) to say that she is an appraiser at Skinner, an auction house, and lives with her husband, "kind, considerate, funny, intelligent, and oh, very handsome" Sam Niles in Newton, Mass. She adds that AmyFulwyler teaches and lives in Portland, Ore., with her beau, Carey Smith. Christine Henning and LaurieRahmeier share a house in that city, together with their respective partners.

Matt Nadler writes that he has moved to New York and accepted a marketing manager position at KPMG. From what I gather, Susan Klein is at Cornell, with their dogs, Matt's pots, and his toilet plunger (I kid you not), until October. Then, she will rejoin him in the city while she completes an extern ship with the Animal Medical Clinic. You can reach Matt at (212) 874-3429.

Anna sent me some glowing clips about the film Julie Davis wrote, directed, edited, and produced: I Love You...Don't TouchMe. The L.A. Times film critic wrote that it had "unstoppable warmth and appeal." The College is showing it during the 25th anniversary of coeducation this month. So, if you will be in Hanover, don't miss it!
