If any of you happen to be driving through New York's Bronx borough, not far from Yankee Stadium, you may see that one of our classmates has achieved quite literally the larger-than-life status that few of us can ever hope to equal. Look up at a Yankees billboard and see PeteGoldstein, sandwiched between two very irate Boston Red Sox fans. (Can I diverge for a moment to ask why people continue to get excited when a perpetually underperforming team loses another game?)

This news comes from Mike Cohen-Uram, who got married to Wendy last July. Pete, who works in advertising in San Francisco, hence the "in" to sit for the billboard shot, was at the wedding, as were Mike Kanarick, who is working on a New Jersey gubernatorial campaign; TedCarleton, "meandering as usual"; Laurin Grollman Anders, a lawyer who is clerking but will soon be working at Paul, Weiss, Rifkin , etc.; and finally, Laura VanWie McGrory, who is an environmental consultant in D.C. Mike is in his second year at Mount Sinai medical school, and Wendy is a history teacher.

I am writing this column having just returned from a mini-reunion here in New York City at Wes Wang's restaurant, Two Rooms, a very beautifully decorated place (ah, but who would have expected less?) on East 58th Street. By the way, Wes got engaged a few months ago to Irina Korneeza, a fashion model.

Because most of my news comes from this mini-reunion, it is understandably, and I hope forgivably, very New York-centric. Stephen Gumbs is working at Richmond Hill H.S. in Queens, N.Y., teaching English as a second language to recently arrived immigrants. He earned a master's from Columbia and is working toward a master's in international education. He previously had worked in the Peace Corps in Africa, and he says he can't wait to leave the US. again.

Lauren Beiley is a marketing manager of international programs for Stanley Kaplan. She said she never imagined that she would ever be doing anything but teaching, but she loves her job. She, too, lived abroad for several years, teaching- English as a second language in Spain.

Kerstin Stanley works on Wall Street structuring derivatives. She summed up the last few years like this: "I went to graduate school; dropped out of graduate school; moved to New York; went corporate and work at Merrill Lynch."

My one shot at geographic diversity comes from Al Realuyo, who lives in London but happened to be in New York on business when he got the mini-reunion invitation. He has been an investment banker for Salomon Brothers for over a year now. Previously he lived in Spain for five years taking a variety of different jobs.

Now, news from my mailbox. CliffordCurrie lives in Englewood, Colo., and owns his own sports nutrition and fitness business called Prime Performance. TheRocky Mountain News reports that Clifford's business is unique in its focus on young athletes. Business aside, Clifford is also training for the 1999 U.S. Track and Field Championships in hurdles and aiming for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, the newspaper reports.

Thomas Slosberg also was married last July to Grace Maria Ward, a graphic designer at Reebok International. Tom is at Tuck, according to his wedding announcement in The New York Times. Before that, he worked as a sales manager for Keds.

As always, keep in touch!
