Rowl Hall sent a picture of the 1938 crew and asked for help in identifying the members. A friend Jim Carpenter) here in Canton was on that crew, and he had a signed copy of the picture. Found the missing members and discovered that six of the nine members were the class of 1940. This was the first boat to row in intercollegiate races after crew was reestablished at Dartmouth.
Heard from Moose Stearns. Have now identified five three-letter classmates Holmes, Hutchinson, Merchant, Stearns, and Wonson (nine letters in cross-country, indoor track, and baseball for Chief).
Scotty Rogers reports that his bone cancer is undergoing radioactive treatment and a chemo series—and it worked! JoeBurnett sent Scotty part of his humor col lection—impossible to read without laughing. Tag- Tatgenhorst has moved to a club in the country for fishing and golf. His four sons have different professions: a painter in Bryn Mawr, English teacher in Knoxville, an architect in Winter Port, Maine, and an entertainment music company in Atlanta. Tag wants to know how to get rid of Canada geese on a golf course. Harry McMahon summers in Kenilworth, 111, and winters on Jupiter Island, Fla. He retired when he sold his insurance company to Lincoln National. Bill Huffman reports that there is a no longer a burning river in Cleveland.
Donna and I attended her 50th high school reunion in Williamsville, N.Y. Name badges with their graduation pictures made identification a little easier. Took 50 years for Donna to discover that a classmate was a cousin. Always travel with the class directory so were able to spend time chatting with Petah and Oscar Acer about Dartmouth and our Williamsville connection. Surprised Oscar when we attended his Episcopal Church Sunday morning.
