Except for the totally forgettable football game, homecoming weekend and our mini-reunion were a great success. Friday night's parade, class hayride courtesy of Jim and Debbie Griffiths, and bonfire were quintessential Dartmouth and perfect for setting the mood for the weekend. Bob Blake's class tailgate party, held on Saturday morning in Leverone Field House because of threatening weather was beautifully organized and well attended. The stage was set for a great game, but it was not to be as Dartmouth was decisively beaten by a superior Harvard team.

Our class was well represented and included in no particular order Rick Davey,Jim Mechenbier, Mike Orr, Hank Amon,Allen Zern, Ted Atkinson, Bill Webster,Mike Gonnerman, Bob Blake, SteveWaterhouse, Jim Griffiths, Mike Bettman,Brian Walsh, Howard Mueller, BobMurphy, Bob Ernst, Bob McConnaughey Brian Prozak Larry Duffy, and myself. I hope I have not forgotten anyone and please forgive the omission of names of spouses and significant others I was simply unable to record all the names.

Nancy and Reg Pierce put on a wonderful dinner on Saturday night following a lively and well-attended cocktail party. After dinner the party continued and we enjoyed an unexpected impromptu serenade from the golden voices of Bob Murphy, Jim Mechenbier and Jim Griffiths. The festivities were rolling in fall swing until around 11:15 p.m., when the lights went out due to a nearby power outage caused by the high winds and rain. Undaunted, most of your classmates continued on into the wee hours by candlelight. It was another unique evening to add to the lore of what is now approaching 20 years of mini-reunions at Pierces we believe that the first was in 1979. In fact Reg was digging through some of the records and discovered some long overdue unpaid bills. So, if you are one of the delinquents, you are now forewarned! Seriously, if you have never attended one of our minis, put it on the calendar for next year (Yale weekend, October 17) they are really fun and are held at a beautiful time of year in Hanover.

On Sunday morning Jim Griffiths chaired our class meeting. Many subjects were covered but noteworthy among them was Hank Anion's head agent report. Hank's committee is already well underway on the 1997-1998 Alumni Fund campaign. One of his key goals is to increase the number of leadership donors ($1,000 and above) and a letter has already been sent to many of you elaborating on this objective.

Class projects, under the direction of Steve Waterhouse, were also updated. Our class should be very proud of the fact that we have now completed the funding for two Webster Hall study lofts and are contemplating a third. This is in addition to our ongoing annual funding of Native American Awards, memorial books, DOC freshman trip scholarships, Friends of Dartmouth Athletes, and Friends of Baker Library. We have also reserved an area known as "the Knuckle," located near the former entrance to the old Mary Hitchcock Hospital and strategically in the center of the proposed new North Campus, for a class project centered around the concept of a fountain or waterfall surrounded by large blocks of granite. Architects' renditions are already beingreviewed. Obviously your class will be very visible and recognized on the Dartmouth campus!

Late news: The dates for the minireunion in Charleston have been changed to April 24, 25, and 26.
