As I write these notes, I continue to be impressed not only by my classmates' achievements, but by their breadth of interests. Chuck Noll's brother Ed '59 writes to let me know that Chuck has been elected to a two-year term as secretary of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. A quick read of the AAPG Explorer tells me that Chuck has been a major force in the oil industry since 1955 when he first worked for Amoco. Moving through a number of major positions in various oil exploration companies, Chuck has had significant exploration activities in Gunpoint Field and Dewey Lake areas, both in Texas. He has served in many advisory and administrative capacities of organizations dedicated to the field of geology.
David Godschalk has been elected a fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners. He is the Stephen Baxter Professor in the department of city and regional planning at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. David is a former Florida State University professor and vice president of Milo Smith Associates of Tampa, Fla. Bob McNally was elected president and CEO of Adams Golf. Bob had previously been president and CEO of Tommy Armour Golf Cos. as well as chairman of the board of that company from 1995 until his retirement in 1997. Bob holds the patent for Tommy Armour's popular 845 iron. In addition Bob is currently a director of C.O. Tools Inc. He also serves as life trustee of the Midwest Industrial Management Association, a social service organization. Peter Grenquist called me in response to my pleas for interviewers here on Long Island. As he offered his services in this regard, I pried from him the following news. Having retired one and one half years ago, he is now a senior consultant to Mosley Associates, a publishing management consulting firm. Keeping with his low profile, he and Barbara have moved from New York City to Wainscott, Long Island. We are delighted to have him in our interviewing group. Our mini-reunion calendar is full. We will be gathering in Room 107 of the Hanover Inn after the parade and bonfire at the Homecoming festivities on Oct. 15. After the game with Cornell the following day, Nancy and Phil Beekman will be hosting a super dinner at their home. On Nov. 6, after the Columbia game, Cathy and BobCallender will host a mini in their New York City residence. This will be followed by a party at Ann and Harlan Fair's home in Hanover after the Brown game. Nancy and Bill Johnson host the longest running, most-attended mini-reunion in college history with their get-together after the Princeton game on Nov. 20. Please look for more detailed information in a forthcoming issue of '53 Out. We'll look forward to seeing you at the minis, and many thanks to our hosts. Cheers, and please keep in touch.
