Bill King was elected chairman of the Dartmouth Board of Trustees. He became a Trustee in 1991 and chaired the search committee that led to the appointment of James Wright as Dartmouth's 16th president. Bill, who introduced President

Wright and was honored as a Soaring Pine winner at our 3 sth, is vice chair in the Richmond, Va., law firm of McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe. He is an authority on the management of national product liability.

The question over what will become of fraternities is eliciting reaction. "I hope they don't do away with them because they are an important part of campus life," offered GregMoore of Richardson, Texas. "There still isn't that much to do in Hanover." "No matter what happens, it's going to be gut wrenching," said Kim Morris of Carmel, Ind. Greg, who is head of industry relations for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas, was in New York recently to accompany his in-laws to a reunion of World War II veterans. He and Connie also came east last year for our 35th before going down to Richmond, Va., to visit their youngest son Doug. Greg Jr., their older boy, lives in Texas and works for Southwest Airlines. Connie is an assistant principal at a high school in Piano. Kim and Weezie Morris have chartered three sailboats to visit Tortolla in the British Virgin Islands for the millennium. A Kellogg B- school grad and former ad man, Kim started Pinnacle Oil Cos. in Indianapolis from scratch 12 years ago and now produces 300 bottles of oil a minute for the likes of Jiffy Lube Valvoline, Marathon, Sheetz, and 76.

Telecommunications exec Bob Reynolds of Morristown, N.J., survived deregulation, consolidations, and spin-offs to become director of community relations at Lucent Technologies in Murray Hill, N.J. His assignment is to build brand image around the world, particularly in emerging markets. After army service in Vietnam and Columbia Business School, Bob worked for New Jersey Bell, Bell Atlantic, AT & T, and Bell Laboratories, in that order. He married Tibbie in 1961. The couple has a son Robert, an architectural historian, a daughter Jill, and a granddaughter Emily.

Dave Smoyer, Jamaica Plain, Mass., has retired as director of development at Roxbury Latin School in Boston. He volunteers as tutor to inner-city kids, is trustee at Hillside School for learning disabilities, and is a well-traveled sports spectator at the World Cup, Ryder Cup, Fenway Park, and many other events and venues. Mary teaches elementary school. The children are scattered in Florida, Oregon, and California. New York real estate lawyer Jerry Uram became a grandfather when son Michael's wife, Wendy, gave birth to Ann. Michael studies medicine at Mt. Sinai.

Bill and Carol Hindle discovered there's more to Colorado than skiing, which they do a lot of there. They vacationed in summer at Steamboat Springs, where days are warm and dry, the nights cool, and the biking, kayaking, and rafting terrific. Bill is a radiologist in Alexandria, Va. He served on a submarine after med school. Carol is a clinical social worker. Their daughter Allison married two years ago.
