Mystery Solved: In September we mentioned that our letterhead listed Robert Kirsch as member of the 1942 exectuive committee, but no one knew the name. As soon as die issue was mailed I received a phone call from Jay Weinberg '40, whose wife, Marion, saw the article and recognized Bob Kirsch '47, Tu '48. Jay and Bob play tennis together and they both live in Westchester, N. Y. To bring it around full circle, Jay is the brother of our own Charles, who also lives in Westchester.
Once again congratulations are due 221 of you for an outstanding performance in the 1999 Alumni Fund drive. Buzz Cassidy reports another remarkable total of $114,504 raised, leading all other classes with a 79 percent participation and exceeding our $110,000 goal. He notes that almost 43 percent of the incoming class of 2003 will be receiving scholarship grants!
Bud Hummel is still trying. His family has had a house on Lake Morey, Vt., for many years. By coincidence, three other Dartmouth grads have become his imme- diate neighbors. Now each of these has a child who entered the big D this fall. Bud is putting up a six pack that says no one has a higher percent of D "relations" than his group. Any takers?
The College hosted a two-day seminar in September for class and club officers. Your class officers are a conscientious bunch, and all but two were scheduled to turn out for the event. Lead by our intrepid leader, president Dave Heald, we also had in attendance treasurer FrankFaroulo, head agent Buzz Cassidy, newsletter editor Bob Encherman, bequest chairman Guy Swenson, assistant bequests and widows Betty Keirstead and your secretary. The men were accompanied in most cases by their wives, of course. You were well represented.
