The "Great Hurrah" is upon us: the 60th reunion is scheduled for June 10-12 in Hanover, with an extension at The Balsamsthe world-famous New Hampshire resort—scheduled to follow from June 12 to 14. Reunion chairman Jack Corwith and his stellar committee have lined up a great program. He reports gratifying response to his Green Card inquiries, with more than 125 classmates and spouses indicating they will attend. Assistant chairman Bob Kirk and Leo Caproni (who is handling food and beverages) are preparing a budget for the extravaganza that will then be used to set the cost for all participants.
The class banquet is scheduled for Tuesday night, June 11, at the Hanover Inn's Daniel Webster Room, with President James Wright and Jud Hale '55, former editor of Yankee Magazine, as the featured speakers. Huntly Allison, entertainment chair, would like to introduce a "Louis Armstrong" jazz band into the event, following the speakers, for listening and dancing. But there is no budget for this, so Huntly is asking for contributions. Can you help? Call him or president Dave Heald.
While we're on vacation plans, mini-reunion chair Huntly says that he has reserved space for October 11-12 as the next class fall football weekend (the Yale game), returning to Lake Morey as the group voted last year.
Jeff Markell is one who hopes to get to reunion. He says: "It's been a fairly busy year. Presently have three books in process of publication with three different publishers, so am taking a bit of a rest at the moment. Can't handle the idea of completely retiring—not that charmed with bridge, golf and grandchildren. Still have two more book projects in process."
Word from Bill Uptegrove that he's OK. "I still have a wife, a horse and two daughters. One of my daughters, Frances, has been working at Dick's House for 15 years. Bob Searles, my roommate, keeps me posted on class news."
Evelyn Callihan, widow of John T. Callihan, died on March 16,2001, after a long battle with breast cancer. Our condolences to her family.
