At the annual '63 Homecoming party at Bob Barnum's in Lyme, N.H., I met Christina Richardson '02 of Lynnfield, Mass., a soft-spoken and modest young lady who was hanging out with the kids in the billiard room. Christina s demeanor belied the fact that over the weekend she was announced as our first class of '63 scholar, a project the class has been funding a long time. Christina is the daughter of George Richardson, a Boston lawyer, whose own dedication to the College and class survived a three-year military hiatus as an undergraduate. Christina graduated magna cum laude from Phillips Academy, where she was poetry editor and member of an All-America 200-yard freestyle relay swimming team.

Bob and Sally Barnum did double-duty this year hosting both our post-game cocktails and class dinner in their cozy remodeled farmhouse. The classy Dartmouth Aires serenaded and included a showstopper called "Sally," aimed at our lovely hostess.

Over barbecued steak, chicken, and strawberry shortcake, Bruce Baggaley said he still rows his one-man scull on the Saugatuck River, near Darien, Conn., but a big defense contract for his growing management consulting firm keeps him on the road. Hartford, Conn., lawyer Bill Breetz has joined the faculty at Uconn. Chiva and DonDa Parma from Pine Island, N.Y., in Orange County came with three children, Dante, Will, and Chesida. Don practices law in the county. Bob Chavey, Greentown, Pa., sported a Don Sherwood button, and wouldn't you know it, he was right on the money. Sherwood, a Republican from Tunkhannock, Pa., edged out Democrat Patrick Casey, son of former Governor Robert Casey, by 1,000 votes for the Congressional seat from the 10th District. Marilyn and Chuck Racine, Groton, Vt., lived in the bush of Point Barrow in the north of Alaska over the summer, so they took a well deserved trip to Italy in the fall. Chuck is a biologist at the army's Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) in Hanover, which is at the forefront of studies on the global warming trend.

Among the revelers at Jesse's Friday night were Frank Palmer, Tom Kraig, SamCabot, Bill Wellstead, Marty Bowne,Ted Suess, Bob Bysshe, and Bill Russell. At Simon Pearce in Quechee on Sunday Marty Bowne regaled the table with funny stories of his army days, while Ann Suess credited Ted for helping create innovative teaching materials for her nursery school class.

At the football game John Whitmer, Riverside, Conn., marketing consultant, and wife Rosemary reunited with college roommate Richard Dickinson, engineer from Topsfield, Mass., and wife Marge. John's son Craig '9B broke his collarbone in rugby. Richard's daughter Sally, a Dartmouth student, attended the game. I am sorry to report the death of Joe Frenzel at his home in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
