Erv Burkholder didn't make it to the class mini-reunion in Hanover last October. He had a good excuse. Erv was in Russia, where he has been for the past year, starting up a U.S.-style broiler (as in chickens) operation with a Russian joint venture partner.

Erv's assessment of the current situation is illuminating—"The country lacks a functioning government, banking system, tax collection system, and even a handful of honest bureaucrats. In retrospect, I can't think of any of the essentials it does have except a lot of hungry people who, unfortunately, can't even afford one chicken in their pot!"

But a good number of '66s did make it back to Homecoming Weekend festivities organized by Al Keiller, who had the foresight and influence to arrange for the Big Green's one and only Ivy win that Saturday.

Class president and first lady BobSerenbetz and Karen led a large '66 contingent in the Parade of Classes, including Alan Nadler, Gordon Leversee, RobCleary, Bill and Jane Higgins, Rich and Debbie Kaiser, Bob and Jennene Bach,Hector and Myra Motroni, and Robin and Theresa Carpenter.

Paul and Margo Doscher hosted the pre-game brunch at their Norwich home. At the class meeting head agent BobSpence reported that the class set a new non-reunion year record of Alumni Fund giving with $158,382 and 50-percent participation. Congratulations and thanks to all! President Serenbetz was cited as leading one of the five outstanding classes of the year, primarily for our campaign to raise funds for a new Memorial Field scoreboard.

Other classmates and spouses in Hanover during Homecoming Weekend included Allan and Gwen Anderson,Steve and Barbara Hayes, Rich and Mary Daly, Gary and Sharon Broughton,Steve and Barbara Lanfer, Ed and Paulette Jereb, Steve and Anne Warhover, Jim and Sharon Botelho,Dave and Lisa Coughlin, Jeff Gilbert, and John Hughes.

Forty-four classmates, wives, and kids attended the Saturday dinner at the Norwich Inn, topping off a first-rate minireunion. Looking ahead to our 35th in 2001 (yikes!), anyone interested in doing a little (or a lot) of work on this noble cause can contact Bob Serenbetz at (215) 598-0262. Bob's even looking for someone to take over the reigns as president in the next millennium, even though many think he was elected president-for-life.
