Unfortunately, Hurricane Floyd chose the Leadership Weekend in September to shed its fury of wind and rain along the entire East Coast and far inland. When queried as to the advisability of my driving to New Hampshire that Friday morning, the chief of police said PLEASE stay home. There is much still to come. How right he was! Although I am disappointed in not being able to give you President James Wright's report at the dinner of how Dartmouth was progressing under his tutelage, I thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular sight of enormous waves crashing on the rocks a few hundred feet from my home. My present plan is to visit Hanover in several weeks and I will let you know next month how beautiful your old haunts look now. The color should be at its peak.
I am sorry to let you know BobFunkhouser's widow, Peg, had a bad fall at her home in Hanover, breaking an arm and a leg. She is now at a nursing home in Providence near a daughter. Her address is Beechwood, Room 2110, 353 Blackstone Blvd.,Providence, RI 02906. SamWormser's widow, Allice, whom you all know, is doing much better after several falls last year, and is in Dorset after returning from Florida. Not to be outdone in the falling department, I must admit to being one of the spouses who also has been laid up, but am well now and hope I can get some good news to pass along via the Notes.
