Another addition to the "'97s Doing Cool Stuff list is JessRusso. She and her boyfriend have decided to hike the higest peakin They have already completed seven states (all of the New England states plus New York). Jess writes, "We're having so much fun and look forward to traveling to the states outside New England. If anyone is interested in beginning a journey like this, they are more than welcome to get in touch with me at my Dartmouth account, or to check out www.highpointers. com." In addition to her climbing escapades, Jess is in her second year of dental school at the University of Connecticut.
I've got several engagements to report. Congrats to Alison Schram and her fiance, Tim Baldwin (Thayer '97). Also, congratulations to Paige Kambas and Steve Wolfe, who got engaged this past fall. Five years ago (yikes) this coming fall, nine Dartmouth '97s and I set off for a 100day journey called Semester at Sea. One of the great results of the trip was that KristyJarosh met Bill Cory, a Stanford '97.
This past August they got engaged. They are planning an August 2000 wedding.
Kristy lives in San Fran, where she is working at a public relations firm that works with consumer technology startups. Kristy sees a lot of Jill Hunter, who works for the same agency, but in its Palo Alto office. She also sees Ellen Sullivan, who is living in L.A. Ellen finished her two years with Teach for America and is now teaching special needs children. Beth Landy sent reports of two weddings she attended last summer. The first was for Chris "Stormy" Adamson and Lisie Antkowiak '99 in Cape Cod. The '97s who made it were Jeff Schmitt and Jared Augello, who were in the wedding party, plus Pilar Rodriguez, Gary Long,Brian Schmitt, Greg Smith, GreggSmith, Mike Coyne, Matt Dancewicz,Darren Gaffney, JJ Coslet, OwenMacdonald, Brian Larsen, Mark Abel,Will Bergman, Dave Oliver, TomMacejko, Mike Harriff and Trey Bowers. The second wedding was Chris Boran '95 and Kristin Kuroda's at Dartmouth. Their wedding also was overflowing with '97s, including Nina Nho and Jeanne Diiorio in the wedding party and guests Natasha Lam,Cindy Bellefeuille, Gary Long, MarkAbel, Darren Gaffney, JJ Coslet,Courtenay Barlow, Jess Hughes, ShelleyCastro, Kerry McCloskey (who caught the bouquet), Jen Pollina, Amy Currier, IngerStrand, Andrea Whitney, Kat Williams,Carolann Purcell and Natasha Guschtein. Beth wrote, "The bride and groom were the toughest Dartmouth couple imaginable and made it out until about 4 a.m. the night before the wedding! Despite some close calls with pong injuries they both still managed to look great during the ceremony. Kristin looked especially beautiful in her wedding gown." Beth works at Time Inc. with Kerry and Eric Szegda. Darren, JJ, Natasha and Russ Echlov all work within a few blocks. Beth writes, "A lot of New Yorkers have recently jumped ship: Cindy has abandoned us to move back to Boston for a cool new job at paperexchange.com and is now living in the Back Bay a few blocks from Jess (and from Newbury Street). Nina Nho has left to work for Schroeders in London for the next couple of years."
Blaire Osgood left Chicago to start law school at Boston University this past fall. En route to Boston, she stayed with JenniferJones in N.Y.C. Blaire wrote, "We had a blast celebrating the birthdays of KallieBuehler and Lauren Kleinberg as well as Lynn Thacher's survival of the MCATS." She said Carolyn Wolff, also out that night, lives in N.Y.C. and has recently taken a job with an internet company. In New Haven, Blaire stopped to see Jay Neukom, who is in a master's program at Yale.
Blaire wrote, "Malaika Little and I caught up briefly in Boston. She had just shotgunned 'orgo' at Harvard over the summer and is now back in San Fran working and doing the rest of her pre-med classes at Berekley. Now settled in Boston, I see Jeremy Turk the most—we literally have every class together at BU!"
