Tony Amriati, in Oslo, Norway, is still surviving in the oil tanker business during the past 18 years. After College Tony picked up an M.A. and Ph.D. in Spanish literature from Johns Hopkins University. Most of his time is spent dealing with clients in Europe and South America. WilliamG. Gerber, M.D., was appointed to the board of directors of Epoch Pharmaceuticals Inc. as the chief executive officer. Prior to joining Epoch, Bill served as president and chief executive officer of diaDexus LLC. and earlier as vice president and chief operating officer of Onyx Pharmaceuticals. He is a director of Sangamo Biosciences Inc. Bill received his M.D. (1971) and B.Ms. (1968) from the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center.
Doug Darby moved to Montserrat in April 1996, the same week that the capital city of Plymouth was evacuated due to an erupting volcano. Though the volcano has been quiet, a new dome has begun to grow, which adds to the uncertainty. Doug and Debby have been waiting (with stored building materials) to build a new home. The Rev. Bill Swift of Wolfeboro, N.H., died of pancreatic cancer in December 1999. He was the rector of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Sanbornville, N.H. Bill and several classmates were recognized by Playboy as representative of collegiate fashion styles in 1967 (see March DAM, page 80 photo). John Wasson was a frequent visitor and supporter, arranging for Bill to have lunch with Dr. C. Everett Koop in Hanover in early December. Sincerest condolences to Bill's wife, Robin, children Jennifer and David and grandchild Clara Alicia Buse.
