Stephen Shaffer of Penny Lane Partners LP in Princeton, N.J., was a panelist in the New Jersey Venture Fair. Steve majored in history and in 1969 earned an M.B.A. in finance from Cornell. He joined the Prudential Insurance Co. in 1969 to negotiate leverage buyouts. Prior to founding Penny Lane, Steve did private placements as an intermediary for his New York-based broker dealer Denslow, Shaffer, and Co.

Major General Earl Wynn Mabry II, M.D., is the commander of the 59th Medical Wing, Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas. Wilford Hall is the air force's largest medical facility. Wynn entered the air force in July 1973. After receiving his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma, he completed his internship and residence in urology training at Duke University Medical Center. He is board-certified in adult and pediatric urology. A senior flight surgeon, he has logged more than 550 flight hours. Wynn has served as a commander four times. Prior to this position he was commander and director of the Air Force Medical Operations Agency at Boiling Air Force Base, D.C.
