So when you're in my line of work—I work with the Northwestern men's basketball team as their media contact—you spend a lot of time in hotels on the road with the team. As such, you become a connoisseur of daytime TV. So imagine my joy throughout the winter when I would flip through the channels and come across Talk Soup on the E! Network. The hostess? Why, Aisha Tyler, of course. Catch her in action...she is damn funny. Of course, we've known that all along. (See more about her on page 54.)
Heidi Steinmetz Lovette moved with husband Irby'91 and baby Jamie from Philadelphia to California this past fall. Heidi is now the medical editor at the West Coast office of Cambridge University Press, located on the Stanford campus. She would like all peers to know that while she is happy in her job, she will not be complete until she finds her first Dartmouth physician author. Heidi reported on Loren Edelson, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Japanese theater at CUNY in New York, and a long-ago summit meeting with fellow supermom Krysia Carmel Nelson.
First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage: Jeanne LaForgia had a Christmas wedding in 1999 (yes, we strive for timely news here), and teaches drama and music at Boston University. She is also excited because her brother will soon be a member of class of (gulp) 2005. Nuptials were also in order recently for Mark Carlson, who married Emily Piovarcy in July. They live in the Mission District in San Francisco, and he is director of business development at a wireless high-tech company in the Silicon Valley. Emily works for Sapient with, among others, Caroline Horn. Finally, Allison Koweek Schnipper was married to Jeff Schnipper in June. She has moved on to her third career since graduation, founding a business called Professional Organizing Services—in her words, "I help people in their homes to organize their stuff." If anyone in the Boston area needs help cleaning up the mess, call on her at professionalorganizing@hotmail.com. All three weddings were rife with Dartmouth friends, which, unfortunately, I can't fit in here due to word constraints (and those who know me know how I can't stand word constraints!). Suffice to say, your presence at all three weddings was appreciated by the respective parties.
Then Comes Baby Carriage: Becca Voelker and husband Stefan, Th'93, were blessed with Peter Nicholas on December 2. And Kathie Calkins Keyes and husband Steve brought Stephen Michael Calkins Keyes (say it five times fast, I dare you) in December, as well. We're loading up the class of 2023, people!
Then Comes...Spain?: Todd and Amy Nauss Millay moved to Madrid with daughter Sophia recently. Todd reports that Phil Kerr, among others, is gearing up to help him run with the bulls in Pamplona this summer. So if you never hear from them again, you know why ahead of time.
