As they have at intermittent intervals since becoming known as The Big Green in 1977, Dartmouth students are again choosing a new unofficial mascot. This time around the process has been orchestrated via Blitzmail. Of 150 suggestions, the choices have been narrowed to five by vote of almost 1,000 students. A fall runoff was to determine two finalists. Both will be depicted on Co-op merchandise, sales of which will determine the favorite.
We want your vote, too. Would you rather see Dartmouth represented by a Dr. Seuss character, forester, moose, Salty Dog or Yeti? Among the choices already eliminated: Big Green Minivan of Justice, lone pine tree, wolf and granite. Yes, it's a hard choice.
Send your vote to DAMletters @dartmouth.edu or via snail mail to "Mascot," Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, 80 South Main St., Hanover, NH 03755.
