After I returned to Rochester following our superb 60th reunion in Hanover, I was curious about the lives and careers of a number of our classmates. So I went to our terrific 50th reunion book to read about them. And, sure enough, there is a gold mine of information about us. For my money we will always be indebted to Dave Patterson, who was its editor; Steve Tate, associate editor; Fritz Hier, features editor; and advisory editors Lem Arnold (cover photo), Penn Frost and Warren Sullivan. They devoted hundreds of hours collecting, organizing and presenting us in a single tome that speaks volumes (pun intended) about us.

At 10 o'clock one Wednesday morning I began reading; and at 12:35 that day I put the book aside because I had to go to lunch! But you get the picture—you can't refer to it for a single bit of information because you'll be compelled to seek additional information or learn about another classmate! So, if you crave a healthy dose of nostalgia, just break open our fabulous 50th reunion to any page and start reading. Its wonderful.

Had a good chat at the reunion with Dale Brougher about flying. He first got his pilots license during his freshman year at Dartmouth, flew in the Army Air Corps during WW II and had his own plane afterward—for business and pleasure. He was a solid pilot. However, after much sober reflecting on the responsibility of keeping an airplane—and yes, his age was a consideration—he gave up flying and sold his plane.

One night in mid-December, I was in the "L"s in our 50th reunion book when I saw John LaBounta's name and I called him. He was with the Pillsbury Co. for 20 years then spent another 20 or so years in banking. In recent years he developed a neurological problem that affects his balance. So he uses a walker and gets around well with it.
