WHAT HAPPENS TO ATROPHY AFTER THE initial thrill of victory wears off? It finds a home somewhere on campus, most likely the Oberlander Lounge (dedicated to football star Andrew "Swede" Oberlander '26) in Alumni Gym. Some trophies find their way to Collis Center or Rauner Library. But with no trophy curator to tend to these treasures, many of the plaques, plates and cups have accumulated dirt and grime through the years as the winning stories behind them fade from memory. When DAM dusted off some of the more intriguing awards for a fitting photo tribute, a hint of their original aesthetic appeal came shining through. Photographs by Thomas Ames Jr. '74
