The 1901 football squad poses after drubbing Brown in its final game of the season on Thanksgiving Day in Providence. An 8-1 record that year marked a turnaround for Dartmouth following several disappointing seasons. The success was due in no small part to outstanding freshman end Matthew Bullock, class of 1904 (back row), the first African American to play football at the College.
