ACHIEVEMENTS AND HONORS

Fred Harris, class of 1911, Warren "Winger" Chivers '38, John Caldwell '50, Tim Caldwell '76 and Martha Rockwell (Dartmouth ski coach, 1979-1988) were inducted into the Vermont Ski Museum Hall of Fame. Harris founded the Dartmouth Outing Club; Chivers raced at Dartmouth and on two Olympic teams before developing the Nordic program at Vermont Academy; and John Caldwell was a four-event skier at Dartmouth, an Olympic skier then coach of three U.S. Olympic teams. His son, Tim, raced in four Olympics and three world cham- pionships. :

Cathy Johnson 79, a Williams political science professor, is that colleges new W. Ford Schumann Faculty Fellow in Democratic Studies. Thirteen alumni are in Turin, Italy, to compete in the 2006 Olympics Games: Sarah Konrad '89, U.S. women's biathlon and cross-country skiing; Carl Swenson '92, U.S. mens cross-country skiing; Rachel Rochat '95, women's hockey (Sweden); Scott Macartney '01, U.S. alpine skiing; Kristin King '02 and Sarah Parsons '09, U.S women's hockey; Bradley Wall'02, men's alpine skiing (Australia); Gillian Apps '06, Cherie Piper '06 and Katie Weatherston '06, women's hockey (Canada); Carolyn Treacy '06, U.S. women's biathlon; Libby Ludlow '06, U.S. alpine skiing; and Patrick Biggs 'O6, alpine sking (Canada). They'll be assisted by four alums on the 2006 Olympic staff: Roger Hartley '61, U.S. biathlon team masseuse; Liz Mclntyre 'B7, coach for U.S. freestyle skiing (and 1994 silver medalist in women's moguls); Max Cobb '87, U.S. Biathlon Association marketing director and member of the International ! Biathlon Union; and Dr. Ed Merrens '88, DMS'94, team physician for the U.S. biathlon team. In March in Turin, Trygve Myhren '58, the president of investment firm Myhren Media Inc. in Denver, Colorado, will serve as chef de mission to Team USA for the Paralympic Games.
