As the Winter Olympic Games come to a close on this February day, Sarah Konrad has made history, not just as the oldest female Olympian on the U.S. team, but as the first female American athlete to compete in two sports at one Winter Olympic Gamesin biathlon and cross country. And if that's not impressive enough, she's considered the fastest woman skier in the United States using the skating technique. But Torino may not be the end of the Olympic road for Sarah. She originally planned to ski for one more year and then return to her post-doc studies in geology at the University of Wyoming. But Sarah has been competing internationally for only three years and says she's still growing into her two sports. She's not ruling out another Olympic run in 2010, and says she'll take it one year at a time. "I'm just really psyched I had the opportunity, and doubly psyched that it was in two sports," she said. "What a gratifying experience to have at this point of my life."

If you spent any time during this past TV season watching the fictional Jack Bauer try to save the world from terrorists on Fox's 24, you may have noticed a familiar face. Connie Britton played Bauer's love interest during the time he was hiding from just about everyone, after being forced to fake his own death. No word at this point on whether Connie returns later in the season, but I'm sure we'll see this successful actress turn up in another series soon enough.

Chesley Adler writes from New Orleans, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. "I am embracing the challenges of this historical event, and trying to observe the lessons in it. Patience, perspective and gratitude are among them. For health and sanity I'm staying in Baton Rouge for the next six to nine months, and commuting in to help friends and attend to business. My family lost one store to fire and our main store was flooded and looted, but will reopen soon. Our largest mall store is back up and running, and early (this) year we will have a store open in Baton Rouge. It has meant a lot to me that so many friends from my Dartmouth days have reached out to offer concern and kind wishes."
