Three classmates mentioned in this column have at least one thing in common. Chuck Donovan, Stu Mackler and Bob Hedley were all Daily Dartmouth staffers during our undergraduate years—but none wound up in the world of journalism after graduation. Do we have classmates who made careers in the Fourth Estate? Let me hear from you if so.

Chuck Donovan, Ft. Lauderdale, owns and operates throughout Florida his own tax practice and accounting firm, Affordable Business Services Inc. In the January issue of his company's newsletter, Chuck described some very practical precautions for avoiding identity theft and protecting oneself in case one's wallet is stolen. You can go to to www.affordabl.com for a copy. It certainly helped me!

Dr. Stu Mackler, retired for over two years, lives and relaxes with wife Judith in Franktown, on the beautiful Virginia eastern shore. Stu says he is looking forward to the first grandchildren and marriage of son Daniel '94.

Not too far from Stu, in Newark, Delaware, Peter Schreier lives, having retired in 2005 after 41 years as an officer and co-owner of a claims adjustment company with offices in six mid-Atlantic states. Five grandchildren, skiing and Dartmouth Fund volunteer work take his time now. Peter stays in touch with Whit Gooch, who practices architecture in New Jersey, and Bruce Kalom, who practices law in Hebron, Connecti cut.

Also a Connecticut resident, Bob Hedley lives in New Canaan following 1994 retirement from his career in the international oil business. After Tuck Bob started with and stayed with one company, Texas Gulf Sulfur. However, Texas Gulf was one of those organizations that repeatedly merged, each time with a change of name. Our classmate wound up an employee of Total, the big French oil company, doing considerable international business travel. Probably because of "that, says Bob, he and wife Barbara continue to travel a good deal—it became a hobby. Six grandchildren and "building and grounds maintenance" around their New Caznaan home as well as their south New Jersey shore house fill out his calendar.

John Beck writes from Mequon, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee, that he packed it in after a great career selling fixed-income products for Paine Webber (now ÜBS) all over the Midwest states. Like many of us, on retirement John was immediately appointed by wife, Jan, to her staff in the position of superintendent of buildings, maintenance and grounds. This led to some thought about continuing to live in the cold, high-tax state of Wisconsin when he could more easily ply his new trade in Arizona, particularly Scottsdale, so the Southwest maybe in their future.

Mike Hellman and wife Connie, on the other hand, are already in warm climes, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, their base for the many travels that are a great retirement interest. Recent trips include Australia, New Zealand, China and Peru. Most recently they had fun taking a 10-year-old granddaughter to the Galapagos. Mike and Connie's daughter Jennifer is an '86; their daughter Elizabeth a '92.
