Donations to the Dartmouth College Fund totaled $30.7 million forthe fiscal year, up 10 percent from lastyear. The DCF participation rate increased more than 3 percent from 2005, to 50.8 percent, while the parents' fund brought in a record $1.5 million. Perhaps the most impressive record established was the 73 percent participation in the class of 2006 gift, which shattered the 56 percent mark set by the class of 2005. Annual giving to the professional schools was also up— by II percent, to $32.1 million.

Women's lacrosse coach Amy Patton,who has led Dartmouth teams to eightIvy championships in 14 seasons, hasbeen named head coach of the U.S.women's developmental lacrosse team. Patton served as the national team's assistant coach in 1998-2000. She was a University of Maryland Ail-American.

After a decade with the office of alumnirelations, Nels Armstrong '71 has been named assistant to the president for special projects. He began the new job July 1.

Former Bucknell men's and women'sswim coach Jerry Foley has been namedwomen's swim coach, replacing Joann Brislin. Brislin is now assistant director of physical education for the College.

The Dartmouth women's basketball teamhas capped its Ivy League championshipwith academic recognition. With a team GPA average of 3.323, the squad ranked 18th nationally and was the only one from the Ivies to make the Women's Basketball Coaches Association 2005-06 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for Division 1.

Computer science professor AndrewCampbell was invited to participate inthe 2006 Microsoft Research FacultySummit in July. Also representing Dartmouth were Joseph Rosen, a plastic surgeon at DHMC, and Edmond Cooley, associate professor of engineering and senior lecturer at Thayer.

Economics professor David Blanchflower has been appointed as an external member of the Bank of England'smonetary policy committee, which is charged with setting interest rates.
