Dartmouth '87s far and wide continue to do the most interesting things. Paul Churchill, his wife, Elizabeth, and two boys left the United Kingdom earlier this year to move back to their adopted homeland of Germany, where Paul has taken up a role as head of marketing for Puma across all of their categories for all of Central Europe (yes, even Lichtenstein).
Susan Conroy is a best-selling author, publishing her first book in 2003, who also translates books from French into English. She is currently working on three book projects and conducting television appearances on networks such as EWTN, where Susan has spoken to more than 100 million worldwide households. She lives in Maine but travels around the United States and other countries giving talks and doing book-signings. She recently enjoyed dinner with Betsy Pelikan and Craig Denekas.
Liza Bass lives in Mill Valley, California, with the Marin native she married and their 4-year- old son Nico. She works for SMWM, an architecture, design and planning firm, as its chief administrative officer. Beyond helping SMWM green their operations, she is working to link small businesses with the resources to enable them to reduce their ecological footprint. Not enough? In her spare time she competes in mini-triathlons. She sees equally impressive Tracey Merwise frequently. Tracey is a lawyer at Severson & Werson, which she balances with being a mom.
Chris Baker has been in San Francisco for 15 years, putting his Dartmouth art history degree to good use running a mural painting business. People commission him to do large-scale art-works all over the United States. He and his ceramics-designer wife, Grace, have five kids (including a set of triplets), surf together and share aspirations of scaling El Capitan for the second time this summer. Chris was kind enough to share some scoop on Marc, Trey and Mike as well.
Marc Baranski has recently relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he has accepted a position in brand management at P & G. He has
three boys and is a big-time bass fisherman, travelling all over the Midwest to compete in tournaments. He has done so well that he has corporate sponsors, so watch for him on cable!
Trey Gum has been living in Alaska for the past decade. He's an engineer on the Alaska pipeline. He has two girls as well as two boys that he and his wife adopted from China. Trey still runs (and has been chased by a moose on a run through rural Fairbanks).
Mike Kolis is back in New York City, where he owns 15 hot dog carts. He started with just one as a part-time gig while working for Macy's 15 years ago. The business just kept growing and now it's his full-time work. Mike is married and also has five kids. His wife is a television reporter at WABC. In his spare time he volunteers with the Central Park Raptor Conservancy.
Tim Foster deserves a big congratulations for being named dean of students at Bowdoin College. He is married to Stephanie Macdonald Foster '85, whom Tim met when they were both working in the Dartmouth admissions office. Tim's father-in-law Bob Macdonald '57 led a freshman trip for eight of our classmates in the fall of 1983. He remembers a lot of problems. Were you on that trip? Let us know what you remember.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that our fellow classmates are doing some very interesting things. We would like to hear all of the mundane as well as interesting news across our class. We hope you have learned our tactics in recent articles—tell us your news or let others spin it for you! Thanks for sharing either way.
