Our reunion last summer was a time for reconnection and new connection with the long lost and never known. Many of us met people for the first time and still, with distance, agreed that the admissions team made some pretty good choices in the winter of 1983. We would like to continue making connections here.
One very successful reunion connection actually happened at our fifth reunion. Tony Bird and Mary Beth Meys reconnected and married. Today they live in Asheville North Carolina, where Tony is in solo private psychiatric practice and Mary Beth is described by her husband as "office manager, wife and mother extraordinaire." Tony and Mary Beth have two boys, Tony (9) and Eli (6). Tony (Sr.) has also been bitten hard by a motorcycling bug. Do we think his kind words about Mary Beth are setting up the ask for his fourth bike?
Craig Budner has been married 15 years to his wife, Dawn, with whom he has three kids—Will (12), Ben (8) and Lily (3). He has worked as a lawyer at Hughes & Luce for 17 years and still loves it. He is turning all of his extracurricular attention to starting up an Urban Debate League in Dallas that allows inner-city kids to have the resources and mentorship to enable them to debate as an after-school alternative.
Also a lawyer, Kelly Bonnevie is self-employed in her own law practice, Wilson, Marino & Bonnevie in Newton, Massachusetts. She is living with her spouse, Karen Kaufman 'B6, and their two kids, Matt (7) and Abigail (4). Kelly has recently finished treatment for early-stage breast cancer; she's a terrific example that self exams and early detection can save lives! She is in touch with Susan Jarvis who teaches art in Vermont and has twins, James and Isabelle She also provided an update on Angie Erdrich, who lives in South Dakota with her husband, Sandeep pPatel, and their three kids.
Since 1992 Clyfe Beckwith has been at Phillips Academy, where he teaches physics and cosmology (not cosmetology) and coaches the New England Prep School 2006 volleyball champions. In education across the pond, Robin Appleby is the high school principal of the American School of The Hague, living with her British husband John Leavey and their first child Eden Dee, who was born in June 2006. She saw Carolyn Shertzer dayman (who is married to Tim dayman '88) and her four kids at their home in Andover Massachusetts, this past Christmas.
Clay Burns is married with no kids living in Manhattan though he has spent much of the last year getting a new Smart Design studio started in Barcelona. When he got married last fall he saw Andy McGrath.
Pete Blum is an architect in D.C., where he bikes and is renovating a 1930s Craftsman bungalow with his wife. He ran into Will Wolf with his family at their local Halloween parade.
Star Bailey has lived in the San Diego area since 1999. She teaches sports injury seminars to chiropractors and has her own chiropractic practice, which works with humans and animals. Star is still an avid dancer. She recently saw Stephanie Losee and Sharon Holland in San Francisco.
Lastly, two pleas...one is for news. We can only write about you if hear about you. The second is to look in our class newsletter for information about our class project, Dartmouth Partners in Community Service. Jessica Slosberg Benjamin and Ricki Stern are board members.
