This fall I received a phone call from classmate Bouaphet Sygnavong. He came to Dartmouth from Vientiane, Laos. After two years the pull of homesickness and a girl friend drew him back to Laos, where he remained until 1975. At that time he moved to France, where he worked until moving to California in 1990. Initially he was in the restaurant business, but since 2000 has been an interpreter. His work primarily is centered in health care and legal settings. He and his wife live in San Pablo. Bouaphet was trying to reconnect with Korekiyo Terada, who is in the import/export business in Fukuoka, Japan, and also with Tridhosyuth Devakul, who is an architect and philanthropist in Thailand. I look forward to hearing what success Bouaphet has in contacting these fellows.

Mike Quadland writes: "Just about the time I joined the faculty of the Mt. Sinai Medical School and started my private practice of psychotherapy in New York City, in 1981, the AIDS epidemic struck and changed my professional life for the next 12 years or more. While maintaining my practice and continuing to teach psychiatry residents I saw AIDS patients and their families. I wrote journal articles regarding the psychological aspects of the disease and did research on how to get people to change their sexual behavior in order to reduce their risk. I was a founder of the Gay Mens Health Crisis, now the worlds largest AIDS organization, and consulted with other AIDS organizations around the world. In 1995, burnt out, I left AIDS work, reduced the size of my practice, restored an antique farmhouse in western Connecticut, doing much of the work myself, and took to writing fiction. My first novel, That WasThen, the story of one's man's search for the truth about himself, was published in September 2007." Congratulations, Mike.

Speaking of publishing, Jim Hamilton reports that demand for his republication of HerbWest's Farewell Address has prompted a reprint of the book, less than a year after the initial printing. For those interested in learning more, go to Jim's Web site: www.westholmpublications.com.

Paul Pickrel reports a generally happy year with travel and family activities punctuated by a quadruple bypass. He's recovering well and back to golf and other activities.

In an e-mail Dewitt Jones said: My life has been delightful—especially lately. Morphed a career as a photographer (National Geographic, advertising, etc.) into a career as a keynote speaker, lecturing to audiences around the world on creativity and vision (see www.dewittjones.com). Also opened a side business making training films. My wife, Lynette, and I spend summers at our place in Lake Tahoe and winters at our home in Molokai, Hawaii. Can't think of how to make it better. Healthy and active. Ten pounds heavier than I want to be, but we're working on it."

Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year. Check the Web site for details regarding the class of 1965 65th birthday party in Wash ington, D.C., on the second weekend in May, www.biggreen65.com.
