The October mini-reunion attracted about 60 classmates and guests to the class meeting in the Hanover Inn, a winning gridiron effort vs. Columbia, a post-game gathering with members of the undefeated 1962 team (we were there!), a reception with the classes 1964-68 and cocktails and dinner at the Norwich Inn. What a day! Mini-reunion chair Terry Lowd orchestrated the successful event.
Good for Stan and good for Alfred: Stan Colla, who served Dartmouth with distinction for 20 years in senior alumni relations and development roles, has been appointed vice president for university relations at Alfred University. Stan will be responsible for all alumni relations, communications and development efforts at the 2,300-student private school in western New York State.
Stan served with the Army in Vietnam and taught English in Vermont and Hawaii before earning his M.B.A. at Tuck and joining the College development staff, where he handled a variety of important high-profile assignments with skill and style. He and Judith have two sons, Geoffrey and Timothy.
Bruce McKissock has joined the Philadelphia law firm of Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin to lead a new aviation practice for the firm that has 17 offices across five states. Bruce brings 32 years of experience at his own and other law firms in aviation, product liability, commercial and complex litigation representing small and large organizations.
Wally Buschmann continues to practice law at the Waterville, Maine, firm of Weeks & Hutchins, LLC. "Living in central Maine," Wally reports, "is akin to living in a permanent vacation," but Wally and Cindyventure out of the Pine Tree State to visit daughter Christie '98 in D.C. and his son Erich in Phoenix.
Tom and Betsy Brady continue to grow Plastic Technologies Inc., a Toledo, Ohio-based leader in polyester packaging technical development and support that Tom founded in 1981 and has run ever since. PTI has launched seven related companies, the latest of which is a joint venture to run conferences on packaging technology.
Both Bradys are immersed in civic activities. Tom is a trustee of the University of Toledo and serves on the boards of the Toledo Symphony, Toledo School for the Arts and regional economic development agency. Betsy has just become chairman of the board of the Toledo Museum of Art and serves on the boards of Bostwick Braun Corp. and KeyBank, among others. Mostly though, they revel in the accomplishments and company of their three children and their families.
After spending 20 years publishing magazines for the commercial fishing and seafood industries, John Pappenheimer has retired to write novels in Seattle. Since leaving Dartmouth John reports, "I got lucky and married a lovely lady and had a wonderful daughter. All goes well."
Dr. Bruce Berger continues his active practice as a dermatological surgeon in Princeton, New jersey, "removing the ravages of the sun and aging." Barbara and Bruce recently returned from a month-long trip to southern India and the Maldives and sail the Jersey coast during the summers. Both Bruce's daughter (a '94 married to a '94) in Seattle and son in New jersey have two children—so there is a passel of grandkids to visit.
Peter Dorsen has passed the requisite tests to become a chemical dependency counselor as he continues to recover from stents placed last summer and rebuild his life. In September 2006 Pete married Jeptum Muttai of Kenya, who has a masters in theology and two sons, who now live with the Dorsens.
The class of 1966 will be electing a representative to the Alumni Council for a three-year term beginning July 1. Counselors are expected to attend meetings in Hanover in December and May each year.
