"Back to normal" is how Dartmouth basketball forward Margaret Smith '10 describes having younger sister Brittney 'II on the same campus—and the same team. "Growing up we have always done the same things and had the same interests, so when she decided to join me at Dartmouth it was no surprise," says the older of the Fort Worth, Texas, siblings who are the first sisters ever to play together on the women's basketball team at Dartmouth.
Brittney, also a forward, weighed offers from a number of schools. "I didn't want to right away pick Dartmouth," she says. But her campus visit made up her mind. She's now "having the time of my life." As a rookie starter, she was the team's second leading scorer and top rebounder through the first half of the season (stats above are through January).
Margaret, who missed three games with a back injury, says the sisters are equally competitive. Brittney begs to differ. "I'm more competitive," she says. "It started when I was a young child. I always wanted to do what Margaret did, and I wanted to do it better."
