Hello my fellow '96s. As I sit here in a coffee shop on a miserably cold day in February where the thermostat is topping out at a balmy 19 degrees Fahrenheit, I long for the time when this column is published, for the political debates will subside and party nominations will be finalized Idol will have finally progressed past the non-comical, uninteresting middle stages and spring will be upon us with blooms abloom.

So speaking of blooms, Leslie (Jennings) Rowley had a baby boy in November. Received word from husband Clancy that mommy and baby Clarence Worth Rowley IV were doing great. Also in November, Matthew Carlson and his wife, Joanna, welcomed the birth of their second son, Peter. Along with their first Joshua, they are now living in Chicago, where Matt is doing a post-doc at the University of Chicago in psycholinguistics and developmental psychology. Allen King and wife Amy also welcomed a new addition; Charles Allen King, born in February, affectionately will be called Charlie.

Mike McCord shared the greatest story about how he and now-wife Elizabeth met in Florida just to find out they were living three blocks away from each other in New York City. They went on their first date walking the dog on that Monday night, followed by an engagement 10 months later, with a prospective tour at Dartmouth for Mike's nephew, a stay with Elizabeths best friend living in Vermont and the adoption of another puppy. Married in December 2006 at his childhood church in New Jersey, the couple had a small reception at Mike's parent's home with a honeymoon in Mustique in the Grenadines following the holidays. Mike's working for Granite Capital, a hedge fund in N.Y.C.

Zach Stein and Margaret Chang are doing great. Their daughter Izzie (short for Isabel) is now almost 2 years old. They are living in Mamaroneck, New York, where Zack is employed at Whole Foods Market.

Heard from the Green that Brandon del Pozo was back up at Dartmouth in November, giving remarks in Rockefeller 3 on New York Police Department (NYPD) global intelligence operations. Joining the N.Y.C. Police Department in 1997, in 2005 Brandon established the NYPD's intelligence post in the Arab Middle East. Based in Amman, Jordan, he spent two years gathering intelligence on terrorist threats throughout the region as well as from India, Turkey and other nations. He holds an M.A. in criminal justice, an M.P.A. and is presently a doctoral candidate in philosophy.

Tracey Canard writes me that she is living with her husband, two cats, and a dog in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she helped to start a charter school. She is happy being an educator and works with middle school youth.

The news is short this month, so I look forward to hearing news from more of you to include in upcoming issues. For the months of May and June I hope you have a great Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, Senior Citizens Month, May Day, Cinco De Mayo, Gay/Lesbian Pride Month, Commencement and Reunion. As a shameless plug, hope to see some of you on the Dartmouth Green May 10 and 11 for the annual Pow-Wow.

Until then, keep on keeping on and I look forward to hearing from you!
