Not all of us can be a Dave Dawley, whose groundbreaking work with a Chicago street gang was featured on the cover of the May-June issue of this magazine. But as a class we are helping to make a difference.

In spring we sponsored our third Dartmouth Partners in Community Service (DPCS) intern Gil Littlewolf '07, who served as a community liaison in the construction of a stucco and straw-bale home on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation in Montana, where there exists a severe housing shortage. In winter,we sponsored Rashmi Agarwal '09 who worked with Mary House, which provides transitional housing, after school programs and food aid for 30 lowincome families in Washington, D.C. Our first DPCS intern Case Hathaway-Zepeda '09 helped ex-prisoners in North Carolina find jobs and homes and corresponded with others still in prison who believe they are innocent.

DPCS was founded in 1995 by the class of '59 and is administered by the Tucker Foundation. We are among eight alumni classes who sponsor interns and provide mentors. Gil Littlewolf's mentor was Brent Cromley, a lawyer from Billings, Montana. Rashmi Agarwal was guided by Sam Barton, a District of Columbia marketing executive, and Case Hathaway-Zepeda by Alan Davidson, a Greensboro, North Carolina, physician.

Keeping all of this going is Bob Chavey, retired stock broker turned real estate agent from Greentown, Pennsylvania. Bob identified the program in 2006, did due diligence, and got approval and funding from our class executive committee. Since then he has acted as liaison with our executive committee, managed funding, recruited class mentors and reported on results.

Rosen, an investment advisor from Chicago. Just back from spring skiing in Utah, Gordon recalled with satisfaction many trips to Russia and efforts to improve nuclear safety but did not miss what he terms the "administrivia" of management. He has three daughters: Hilary, a TV producer; Andrea, an engineering student; and Harriet, finishing a bachelors at Maryland. Steve Rosen, who developed a passion for Hawaii in the service and named his investment advisory business Aloha Asset Management, will get to indulge his passion. He and Chickie spent 18 months at their condo in Maui last winter with friends that no doubt included Richie and Barbara Wong, who own a home nearby. Richie is retired from surgery. Barbara expects to retire from radiology at year's end.

Dan Muchinsky, 45th reunion chair, is winding down this month. He and Mary have three children between them. Dans son Alex studies accounting in New York. Marys daughter Amanda is at a hedge fund in Connecticut and son Jamie is in theatrical lighting in New York.

I regret to report the death of Mark Colby at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Full story follows in the obituary section.
