Whether you're a regular like me or a first-timer you can expect an amazing experience when our 45th class reunion convenes June 9-12. Class of '63 reunions are profound and enriching events on both emotional and intellectual levels. From the time you spot old haunts and friends to nonstop academic and life-helping seminars, athletic and social activities you are magically transported to a different world. Nearly 100 classmates responded almost immediately, most saying they will attend with or without spouses, said reunion chair Dan Muchinsky and attendance co-chair Tim Mahin. Special activities include Alumni College classes, Moosilauke hiking, Whitewater rafting and, for those of us who couldn't exempt phys ed, another chance on, yes, the Dartmouth high ropes course. You'll be hearing more but if you have questions contact Dan at (603) 469-3593, dmuchinsky@earthlink.net.

Steve Brenner, former business prof from Oregon, stopped to see Dave and Linda Rogers during a Thanksgiving swing to Philly to visit daughter Alexis and two granddaughters. Steve reports Dave is doing well after his leg amputation from a ruptured aortic aneurysm. Steve went on to Santa Barbara to visit other daughter Diana '95, a former teacher turned full-time mother.

Jeff Lapic, retired from Bank of America, spent Christmas in France with wife Gerri and daughter Teresa and grandchildren Ethan and Ella. Earlier Jeff celebrated birth of twin girls to daughter Angela. Other hot spots were Sierra Nevada, northern California, where Jeff camped with daughter Cecilia, and Atlanta and North Carolina, where Jeff saw Duke play for the first time since law school. Jeff and Gerri visited with roommate and frat brother Al Mayer on Massachusetts'South Shore and Jeff and Jeff Jr. traveled to Seattle to visit with Jeff Sr.'s 90-year-old mom.

Peter Rollins, former chair of film history at Oklahoma State, and wife Susan took their first retirement trip with an Elderhostel in Poteau, an early frontier town at the terminus of the Trail of Tears in southeastern Oklahoma

No retirement for Big Apple Circus cofounder Paul Binder, who entertained Dartmouth alumni with a backstage tour in New York during Christmas week. A Daily News profile recalled Paul's stickball days in Brooklyn. The Washington Post described him as onetime Young Turk and wondered what he must do to keep his non-commercial circus fresh and relevant.

Mike Prince, vice president and CIO of Burlington Coat Factory, was named to CIOMagazine's Hall of Fame. The CIO, or chief information officer, manages information technology and computer systems. Dick Berkowitz and Morris Kramer were listed in "Best Lawyers 2008" in New York Magazine. Anika Noni Rose, daughter of John Rose, sang at the Christmas lighting at Macy's Herald Square. Bill Wellstead recommends Sports:A Generation's Common Bond, stories of 66 members of class of'64 by Ron Schramm '64.

I regret to report the deaths of Kirke Vernon, a regular contributor to this column who had retired to Atlanta, and Tom Kiddoo, a retiree from Sanibel, Florida. Complete stories follow in the obituary section of the magazine.
