Many of us received an e-mail from Bob Gippin reporting his new position as a state judge in Akron, Ohio. His April appointment is for a position vacated by a retiring judge. Bob will be running for election to a six-year term this fall in a nonpartisan race. Bob is one of those fortunate guys among us who has happily come full circle with his life. Growing up in Akron, a graduate of its public schools, he has been able to raise his family and send the next generation through the same system. His legal career has been complex litigation representing school districts, businesses, government agencies and some class action work. After several years with a large firm Bob found his most enjoyable work was in the small Akron firm he is leaving to pursue his position on the bench. For him serving as judge of the Summit County Court of Common Pleas provides a perfect way to complete his legal career.

All of us have read the words of our previous '69 Times newsletter editor David Prentice and have marveled at his work in our 25th reunion yearbook, There's Something Happening Here. What you may not know is that he is working on his 19th yearbook, having completed 25th reunion tomes for every class from 1969 through 1982 except the '74 He has also done 50th books for 1950-52 and 1957; 1958 is in the works for publication this fall along with a 40th for '6B. These prodigious efforts are a one-man show that technology has made considerably easier than those books he began doing 14 years ago. With his extensive experience putting together these classwide opportunities for personal reflection and recollection, David has learned much about the questions to ask and the format to use for obtaining interesting insights from his subjects. We '69s will share an opportunity to respond once more to one of his questionnaires for an upcoming reunion book. He feels there is not enough time for a 40th, but look for David to start laying the groundwork for a 50th book in the near future.

David works on these projects from the woods outside Pembroke, Ontario. He lives in his "cabin" on land originally purchased by his great-grandfather on the banks of the Ottawa River. This idyllic setting has served him well in maintaining his focus and his work after paying his dues soon after graduation working in advertising in the Big Apple. His preference for the country life is evident in his contention that if he weren't in the cabin he would live a half hour from Hanover.

Paul Tuhus once again benefited from living near the College. While dining in Hanover he was accosted by his friend and fellow area resident John Engelman '68, who had in tow AD fraternity brother Chris Miller '63 along with two AD brothers who became "Alby" and "Mouse" in Chris' movie Animal House. The group went to AD, where a documentary on the movie was being filmed by the Biography Channel. Paul was uncertain if he made it on film, but the moment of fame is there anyway.
